P\u00fchap\u00e4eval 14.07\u00a0 olete oodatud uue n\u00e4ituse avamisele, kus kunstis\u00f5pru ootab ees t\u00f5eline maiuspala. Sel korral on eksponeeritud kahe andeka kunstniku teosed: Soomes resideeruv eestlanna Raili Ilmsalu ning Eestis elav ameeriklanna Sarah Michelle Epping. Tulemas on intrigeeriv ja mitmek\u00fclgne kunstielamus, mis \u00fchendab klassikalise ja moodsa kunsti.<\/div>
Raili Ilmsalu, kes on tunnustatud klassikaliste v\u00f5tete ja kaunite skulptuuride poolest, on seekord n\u00e4itusele seadnud nii traditsioonilist kunsti kui ka moodsaid teoseid. N\u00e4ha saab tema uusimaid maale, mis toovad esile tema oskuse kasutada klassikalisi materjale. Eriliseks maiuspalaks on Raili skulptuur “Eva” mis saab taas v\u00f5imaluse s\u00e4rada kunstimaailma valguses.<\/div>
Sarah Michelle Epping toob n\u00e4itusele kaasa oma unikaalse n\u00e4gemuse ja loomingulise l\u00e4henemise, mis on inspireeritud tema sukeldumise kogemustest. Tema “Narcosis” sari sai alguse, kui ta kavandas sukeldumist laevavrakile, mis asus 40 meetri s\u00fcgavusel Okinawa ranniku l\u00e4hedal. Sellisel s\u00fcgavusel v\u00f5ib inimese keha l\u00f5petada sissehingatava \u00f5hu t\u00f6\u00f6tlemise, mis viib eufoorilise seisundini, hallutsinatsioonideni ja l\u00f5puks surmani. L\u00e4\u00e4nemeres on p\u00f5llumajanduses kasutatavatest nitraadikeemiatest tekkinud maailma suurim surnud tsoon. Looduse jaoks m\u00fcrgised vetikate \u00f5itsemised moodustavad \u00fclalt vaadates mustreid, mis on kosmosest n\u00e4htavad, ja alt vaadates l\u00e4mmatavad nad elusolendid. N\u00e4itusele j\u00f5udnud teosed on loodud k\u00e4sitsi valmistatud paberist, mis on saadud vetikate \u00fclekasvust, eemaldades saaste Tallinna lahtedest. Need t\u00f6\u00f6d loovad kujutise, mida v\u00f5ib t\u00f5lgendada kui sukelduja hallutsinatsiooni v\u00f5i mere praegust olukorda.<\/div>
Sarah’ kuue kollaa\u017ei loomine v\u00f5ttis kolm aastat, 25 s\u00f6\u00f6vitusega metallplaati, vetikate \u00fclekasvust valmistatud k\u00e4sit\u00f6\u00f6paberit ja sadu tr\u00fckiseid. Need l\u00f5igati v\u00e4lja ja kleebiti chine coll\u00e9 tehnikas akvarellmaalidele. Tema protsess v\u00f5ib mitte olla populaarne, kuna see dekonstrueerib tr\u00fcki m\u00f5istet, mis on massiline reprodutseerimine.<\/div>

Exhibition Opening Invitation
Next Sunday, you are cordially invited to the opening of a new exhibition, where friends are in for a real treat. This time, the works of two talented artists will be showcased: Estonian artist Raili Ilmsalu, who resides in Finland, and American artist Sarah Michelle Epping, who lives in Estonia. Expect an intriguing and diverse art experience that merges classical and modern art.<\/div>
Raili Ilmsalu, known for her masterful classical techniques and beautiful sculptures, has curated both traditional and modern artworks for this exhibition. You will have the opportunity to see her latest paintings, highlighting her skill in using classical materials. A special highlight is Raili’s sculpture “Eva,” which will once again shine in the art world.<\/div>
Sarah Michelle Epping brings her unique vision and creative approach to the exhibition, inspired by her diving experiences. Her “Narcosis” series began when she was planning a dive to a shipwreck 40 meters below the surface off the coast of Okinawa. At such depths, the human body can stop processing the air you breathe, leading to a euphoric state, hallucinations, and eventually death. Jacques Cousteau termed this process “Nitrogen Narcosis.” This parallel between the human body and the sea is central to Sarah’s work.<\/div>
In the Baltic Sea, runoff from nitrate chemicals used in farming has created the world’s largest dead zone. From above, the toxic algae blooms form patterns visible from space, and from below, they choke out life in natural environments. The pieces displayed are made from handmade paper created from algae overgrowth, thus removing pollution from the bays of Tallinn. These works create an image that can be interpreted as either a diver’s hallucination or the current state of the sea.<\/div>
Creating the six collages took three years, 25 etched metal plates, handmade paper from algae overgrowth, and hundreds of prints. These were then cut out and adhered by chine coll\u00e9 to watercolor paintings. This process might not be popular, as it deconstructs the idea of a print, which is mass reproduction.<\/div>
Finding new ways of creating art, such as using paper made from nitrate pollution rather than trees, is just one of the many steps society should take to adapt to our new reality. Should our great-great-grandchildren be able to peel back the Earth and look at the fossils of our generation, we should leave them the message that we wanted them to experience a planet better than the one full of the issues we inherited.<\/div>
